Other obersvations of Shanghai as a metroplis:
a) very clean in the city area
but not so in other areas especially at places near the street hawker stalls [cos no litters bins were provided and people just throw the left over food and plastic bags on the floor];
b) the street in downtown area is lined/decorated with colourful flowers
[There was a Flower Festival in Apr 08];
c) the parks are well maintained,
with names and descriptions of plants provided. Posters are installed to remind park users to keep the park clean;
d) slogans can be seen wverywhere
to encourage people to protect the environment, reuse and recylce the used items, litter bins to segregate re-cycled items and other waste are also provided;
e) food prices are expensive,
but if you are buying them for own cooking from the market, it will be much cheaper. We did this for some of the days;
f) taxi rate is reasonable.
It cost you less than $20 reminbi (or S$4). And if shared by 4 pax, it is only about $1 per head, and you can go any destination within the town area.
That’s all for today, sounds like I am a reporter giving a daily account, hehehe…
